Claudia Binz Astrachan, Ph.D.
Advisor and Head of Governance Practice
Claudia is a family business educator, researcher, and advisor, and the head of the Family and Business Program at Lucerne School of Business in Switzerland, a program that provides peer-oriented learning opportunities for family-owned companies. After relocating to the United States in 2013, she joined Andrew Keyt as the Head of the Governance Practice at Keyt Consulting in 2019 – a role she continues to hold at Generation6. In this capacity, Claudia worked extensively with the boards and family councils of some of the largest private family companies and steward groups in the United States.
Claudia’s research and practice are shaped by her understanding of the role of family cohesion, effective communication, conflict management, and governance aligned with the values, culture, and objectives of the owning family. She has received awards for her research from both academic and business organizations. Claudia is the Chair of the Board of the International Family Enterprise Research Academy (IFERA) and a former Family Business Chair at the European Academy of Management (EURAM). She is also a visiting scholar at Witten/Herdecke University in Germany and an affiliated researcher at Jönköping University (CeFEO) in Sweden.
Claudia is based in Atlanta. She is fluent in English and German, and conversant in French, Italian, and Spanish.
